Ellen S.
Morris,
is a partner in the law firm of Elder Law Associates,
P.A. She was admitted to practice law in Florida
in1990 and devotes all of her professional time to Elder
Law, Estate Planning and Disability Planning. Ms. Morris
is a graduate of the University of Florida with honors
where she received her undergraduate and then her law
degree in 1989. Prior to focusing her career on Elder Law,
Ms. Morris practiced as an Assistant State Attorney for
Dade County, Florida under the direction of State Attorney
Janet Reno.
An active
member of the Florida Bar Elder Law Section and the
National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Ms. Morris
participates in the legislative initiatives in the Elder
Law area and devotes much of her time to analyzing the new
rules and updated regulations affecting seniors and others
with disabilities who require government services and
protection. Ms. Morris is also active in the Florida
Association of Women Lawyers, South Palm Beach County
section.
As an
active volunteer, Ms. Morris is the State Public Affairs
Chairperson for National Council of Jewish Women in the
State of Florida. As Chairperson, Ms. Morris lobbies on
behalf of women, children, families and seniors on the
state and local levels ensuring protection of their
rights. Ms. Morris is active in the Women’s Division of
the Jewish Federation, the Southeast chapter of the
Alzheimer’s Association, the SOS Children’s Village, JAFCO
and ACTS, Inc.
Ms. Morris
has lectured to other area professionals and charitable
organizations on a variety of elder law topics, including
Medicaid qualification and Special Needs Trusts for
disability planning. She was featured in the Palm Beach
Post’s Moving Up section for her developing elder law
practice.
Ms. Morris
is married and lives with her family, including three
daughters, in Parkland, Florida.

Howard
S. Krooks
is a partner in the law firm of Elder
Law Associates. He is a certified elder law attorney and
devotes all of his professional time to Elder Law and
Trusts & Estates matters, including representing elderly
and disabled clients and their families in connection with
Asset Preservation Planning, Supplemental Needs Trusts,
Medicaid, Medicare, Planning for Disability,
Guardianship and related elder law matters.
Mr. Krooks is
the Immediate Past Chair of the Elder Law Section of the New
York State Bar Association, where he formerly served as
the Chair of the Section’s Medicaid Committee. Mr. Krooks
is certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the National
Elder Law Foundation and is a member of the National
Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, where he formerly served
as Chair of the Public Relations Committee. He presently
serves as co‑chair of a Special Committee on Medicaid
Legislation formed by the New York State Bar Association
Elder Law Section to oppose Governor Pataki’s 2004 and
2005 budget
bills, containing numerous provisions that, if enacted, would severely
impact the frail elderly and disabled population of New
York State. He also created the first e-News product
delivered on a bi-weekly basis to nearly 3,000 members of
the New York State Bar association Elder Law Section, and
presently serves on the Elder Law Section's communications
Committee. He served as Chair of a Special Committee
created by the New York State Bar Association Elder Law
Section to address the Statewide Commission on Fiduciary
Appointments formed by Chief Justice Judith Kaye. He is a
member of the Florida Bar Association and the Westchester County Bar Association (Elder
Law Committee).
Mr. Krooks
co‑authored a chapter “Creative Advocacy in Guardianship
Settings: Medicaid and Estate Planning Including Transfer
of Assets, Supplemental Needs Trusts and Protection of
Disabled Family Members” included in a book entitled
Guardianship Practice in New York State published by the
New York State Bar Association. He currently serves as the
co‑editor of the Legislative News column and is a former
co‑editor of The Fair Hearing Corner column, both of which
appear in a quarterly publication of the Elder Law Section
of the New York State Bar Association entitled The
Elder Law Attorney. In addition, he has written many
articles on a variety of elder law topics. Mr. Krooks is
an Adjunct Assistant Professor at New York University’s
School of Continuing and Professional Studies where he
teaches a course on Asset Protection Planning.
He has lectured
frequently on a variety of elder law topics for the
National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the National
Guardianship Association, the New York State Bar
Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New
York, the UJA Federation, the Brooklyn Bar Association,
the Queens County Bar Association, Berkeley College, the
United Federation of Teachers, the New York State United
Teachers, and before numerous local and regional
residential health care facilities and senior citizen
communities. He has served as an instructor for the
Certified Guardian & Court Evaluator Training under
Article 81 of the Mental Hygiene Law Program sponsored by
the Westchester County Bar Association and the Association
of the Bar of the City of New York.
Mr.
Krooks is married and lives with his wife and three
children in Parkland (along with their two Labrador Retrievers).

Stuart Morris
opened his own estate planning and estate
administration firm in 1991. Before opening his office, he was an
associate with Broad and Cassel in Miami, Florida. He is a graduate of the
University of Florida, with honors, where he received his undergraduate,
masters in accounting, and law degrees.
Mr. Morris is a member of the Florida Bar and American
Bar Association. He is Florida board certified in Wills, Trusts and
Estates and Elder Law, and is a certified elder law attorney by the
National Elder Law Foundation. Mr. Morris is Treasurer and on the Board of
Directors of the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys. He serves as
Chairman of the Ethics Committee of the Elder Law Section of the Florida
Bar. He is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys,
the Florida and American Institutes of Certified Public Accountants, and
the American Association of Attorney - Certified Public Accountants.
In addition, Mr. Morris is Chair of the Professional
Advisory Committee of the Jewish Federation of Broward County. He is active in the
Alzheimer's Association Southeast Florida Chapter and the Alzheimer's
Association of Broward County and has
served as a member of the board of directors of both groups. He was
also elected to the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Community Foundation
of the Jewish Federation of Broward County. Mr. Morris
is AV Rated by Martindale-Hubble and
is on
the Attorney-CPA liaison committee of the Florida Bar. He also serves on
the board of directors, as General Counsel and as chairman of the Planned
Giving Committee of Temple Beth Am.
Mr.
Morris is sought after as a featured speaker on national and local
levels. He spoke on Special Needs Trusts to the New York State Bar Trial
Lawyers Association, Stetson University Law School, and the National
Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He has spoken on various Estate Planning
topics to many sections of the Florida Bar, the Florida Institute of
Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Bar and many local
corporate and charitable organizations.
